The 9 new vintage wines you can enjoy now

Our winemakers are unanimous – our 2017 vintage was excellent, and the fruits of their labour are evident in the wines they’ve crafted for you.

What’s a new vintage wine mean for you? It’s often an opportunity to savour a new take on a wine variety you’ve enjoyed in the past, or to re-engage with a wine you may not have quite connected with previously. Youthfulness comes out to play in new vintage wines, with vibrant aromas and exciting palates on display.

Or, vintage 2017 can be a fresh opportunity to try a wine you haven’t had before.

While we believe our 2017 vintage wines are superb, please don’t take our word for it – order one or more of these fantastic wines today and taste for yourself.

Here’s a full list of the new vintage wines now available for purchase, with Tasting Notes by winemaker Toni Pla Bou:

Ballerina Canopy 2017 Sauvignon Blanc - $19 a bottle (member price from $14.25). We trialled a new yeast selection on this wine developed especially to bring out the varietal characters of Sauvignon Blanc. It is remarkably aromatic, exhibiting passionfruit, yellow capsicum and lantana. The palate is intensely fine, fresh and vibrant.

Limited Release 2017 Petit Manseng - $25 a bottle (member price from $18.75). This wine is basking in the splendour of its youth, displaying real verve, generosity and Petit Manseng’s hallmark exotic fruit complexity.

Limited Release 2017 Fiano - $25 a bottle (member price from $18.75). The Fiano is sourced from director John Cavedon’s terraced hillside vineyard, of low yielding, intensely flavoured varietal grapes. We fermented the wine on grape solids in some oak at a warmer temperature to add texture and complexity to this very individual wine.

Valley Selection 2017 Riesling - $18 a bottle (member price from $13.50). The follow up to our successful multi award winning 2016 vintage, this 2017 vintage is a single vineyard wine that shows ripe lime and sweet lemon flavours. The palate is very juicy and generous for Riesling - we have steered away from the tight, steely mineral expression of Riesling, so that the wine is eminently gentle and appealing to the palate.

Tobacco Road 2017 Pinot Grigio - $16 a bottle (member price from $12). This Tobacco Road wine is showing lovely ripe Pinot Grigio characters: loquat, sweet apple and pear. Great intensity of pure fruit with the requisite Pinot Grigio palate weight, not too heavy and not too light!

Tobacco Road 2017 Sangiovese Rose - $16 a bottle (member price from $12). This year, given our customers’ changing palate, we’ve decide to make a Rosé in more of a Provençal style. A lighter, finer palate and a more refined aromatic lift. Aromas of talc, rosewater and grenadine, a delicious tipple.

Hidden Story 2017 Pinot Grigio - $13 a bottle (member price from $9.75). This is a zesty, racy Pinot Grigio. Displaying all the vibrant expressiveness of a newly vintaged wine! Available to purchase now, although it's not available for tasting at Cellar Door.

Waterstone Bridge 2017 Sauvignon Blanc - $12 a bottle (member price from $9). This wine highlights that the King Valley grows wonderfully varietal Sauvignon Blanc. Lifted, fresh and expressive, it’s a delightful wine to drink, given its generous palate and clean, moreish finish. Available to purchase now, although it's not available for tasting at Cellar Door.

Tobacco Road 2016 Tempranillo – $16 a bottle (member price from $12). This wine (note, the 2016 is our new vintage) shows so much complexity and expression and yet it is very upfront and generous. It is a wine which has great proportion, being neither too big nor too light, meaning that you can drink it on its own, but it stands up to all manner of fare. This wine will be in stock from mid-July although it’s available to pre-order now.
