SILVER/93 Points - 2021 Melbourne International Wine Competition
"Durif calls North East Victoria home and, contrary to common opinion, the grape can present a number of styles from the medium bodied to the rich and ample. This cooler-climate interpretation lies closer to the former. Wood smoke, blue fruits, earth, prune and leather are strong varietally. It's the spice that draws you in on the palate, so enticing and lingering against a smoky, clove oak backdrop." 91 Points, 2022 Halliday Wine Companion
“Chewy, dense, rich red of dark berries, dark chocolate, liquorice and mint characters. Feels thick and opulent in the palate but finds balance despite all the heft and power. Really warming, cuddly kind of wine finding the best of the fuller figured variety and with everything in check. A good, bold style." 93 points - Mike Bennie, Wine Business Monthly
"It’s a burly red but it has its lighter notes. Indeed it almost tastes as though there’s some viognier in this; it has that floral lift, that extra brightness. It tastes essentially of blackberry and coffee, licorice and prune, though there’s a creaminess to the finish, a vanilla note. It works well all round." Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

THE WINE: This wine displays a deep inky red colour. The nose shows intense spice, vanilla, raisins, fruitcake and blood plums. These complex aromas lead to a palate of intense spicy ripe plum characters with complex toasty oak. This wine is weighty and robust with harmonious tannins.
FOOD MATCHES: Try with beef cheeks and roasted parsnip.
