Limited Release 2019 Saperavi - Gapsted Wines

SILVER - 2021 Rutherglen Wine Show

“Earthy fruit fragrances with prune-like notes and a peppery lift. Very good high acid palate with ripe plum and blackberry flavours and soft, but noticeable tannins.” 97 points - 2021 Winestate Magazine Emerging & Alternative Varietals Wine Show

"A lovely, youthful and vivid purple in the glass. Aromas are dark-fruited, blackberry, mulberry, plum conserve and with an edge of menthol and tobacco trailing. The flavours are fresh and vibrant, with sour cherry, cranberry, spice and an edgy sappiness that twangs away on the palate. There's a decent kick of chewy, drying tannins. A wine with richness, brightness and texture." SILVER - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

"Cool to see this. Huge perfume, cola and sarsaparilla, kirsch, sage leaf too. Love the way this smells. Very silky, supple texture, amazing actually, such goodness and eveness here. More of the cola, sarsaparilla, lovely bitter sweetness through the wine, good spice too. Big but fresh feel. This is delicious." 93 points - Mike Bennie on The Wine Front

THE WINE: This wine displays a very deep purple/red colour. The nose shows complex aromas of spearmint, liquorice, spicy plum, star anise and blackcurrant. These aromas lead to a full bodied and textured wine with rich fleshy plum and fruitcake flavours, solid tannins and a long persistent juicy finish.

FOOD MATCHES: Excellent with Osso Bucco, chargrilled lamb backstrap or slow cooked lamb shanks.
