Gapsted Wines, located near Myrtleford in Victoria's High Country, was established in 1996.
The winery now employs 55 staff, with an additional 15 people employed during vintage, and processed 6,242 tonnes of grapes and 1.85 million litres of wine for the 2016 vintage.
The company’s growth hasn’t been limited to Australia, with exports now making up an increasing share of its business – wines are now exported to nine countries, including China, Norway and England.
Gapsted Wines is a prominent tourist destination within Victoria’s High Country. While our wines attract many people to visit us, this is supplemented by what our cellar door and restaurant showcase. This includes:
Cellar Door - free wine tasting. We have up to 25 varieties of wine available for tasting on any given day. We also cater to group and private tastings, tours and our wine club members.
Wine sales, by the glass and bottle. We can ship wines anywhere in Australia (which is particularly handy for cyclists with limited carrying capacity).
Gapsted Wine Club. Allows people to receive wines on a regular basis, and/or to obtain discounts and other exclusive benefits.
Cycle-friendly facilities. We have bicycle racks for a large number of cyclists, and we offer a water station and toilets.
Restaurant. Our restaurant is open for lunch seven days a week, and for dinners during summer and other set weekends. It offers a seasonal a la carte menu, along with regular seasonal menus. This includes, for example, a Christmas in July menu.
Events. Gapsted Wines holds a number of prominent events through the year, including Shakespeare in the Vines – which attracts 400 people, regular live music performances, exclusive Winemakers’ Dinners, a ‘Long Lunch’ experience in September, Harvest Feast, and well known guest chefs including Stefano Manfredi – who attends as part of the broader La Fiera Italian Festival in nearby Myrtleford.
Additionally, we hold three ‘Big Shed Sales’ each year, which are generally held over holiday weekends and attract hundreds of visitors eager to snap up quality wines at bargain prices.
