2019 Vintage Cellar Hands

Vacancies exist for a number casual positions for the upcoming 2019 Vintage. We are seeking motivated team players to fill the roles of Cellar Hands at Gapsted Wines.

The positions available encompass winery operations such as wine transferring, racking, grape crushing, grape pressing, forklift work, barrel work, additions, loading and unloading wine tankers and running various winemaking equipment such as filters and pumps.

Positions will commence from approximately mid-February 2019 for an estimated 9-11 week period with a few select positions extending beyond the end of vintage.

The winery is positioned in North East Victoria, approximately 5 minute drive to Myrtleford, and 30 mins to the township of Wangaratta, on the Great Alpine Road.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience is essential along with the requirement to work well within a multi-cultural team environment and following safe working procedures.

Candidates with a forklift licence will be preferred, and operators must hold a current Australian Licence to Perform High Risk Work, class LF. Current holders of confined space entry and/or first aid certificate would also be an advantage.

The winery operates 24hrs during the peak vintage period and applicants are expected to work shifts in duration of 12 hrs per day / 6 days per week. Applicants will need to source their own transport and accommodation.

For international applicants, please note a valid working holiday visa for Australia MUST be in place BEFORE any vintage position can be offered.

A Skype interview may be part of the selection process following a review of applications received.

Cellar Manager/Assistant Winemaker

The Assistant Winemaker position supports our winemakers, and coordinates cellar activities. It is intended to be based primarily in the cellar management with a focus on all wine-making operations, ensuring the production of premium quality wine from the weighbridge to the bottle.

The Assistant Winemaker will be required to work principally in a hands-on team environment – participating under the direction of the Winemakers & Production Manager.

Duties include:
- Managing work program as set out by the winemaker to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Assist Winemakers with wine-making, style development and planning. The Assistant Winemaker will be required to accept the position of the Winemakers in their absence.
- Managing & developing the cellar team
- Support wine preparation for bottling & coordination of freight for scheduled packaging
- Assist Winemakers & Coordinate Cellar with Grape Intake & Juice Processing to Fermentation 

The Assistant Winemaker will be encouraged to participate in wine sensory assessment and trials including blending. From time to time, the Assistant Winemaker will also assist with promotional events. 

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role and possess the relevant tertiary qualifications.

Events Co-ordinator & Restaurant Supervisor

We are currently looking for an Events Co-ordinator & Restaurant Supervisor to join our Cellar Door & Restaurant team.

Gapsted Wines has a new full-time position available within our busy Cellar Door and Restaurant. The suitable candidate must be available to work weekends, select evenings and Public Holidays. To be successful you will have an outgoing, cheerful personality and a passion for delivering a high standard of customer service.

Experience as an events co-ordinator in the hospitality industry and an RSA are essential.

Gapsted Wines has several casual positions available for the Spring and Summer period within our busy Cellar Door Restaurant. The suitable candidates must be available to work weekends, Friday and Saturday evenings and Public Holidays.
Experience in the hospitality industry &/or a kitchen is desirable but not essential.

Gapsted Wines has several casual positions available within our busy Cellar Door and Restaurant. We are open 7 days a week for lunch and hold numerous night time functions throughout the year.

The successful candidates will have an outgoing, cheerful personality, a passion for great regional food and wine, along with a high standard of customer service. Full training is provided.
